Oh La La

UK Harper's Bazaar July 2009, Uma Thurman by Alexi Lubomirski

This cover is gorgeous! I love how close up the shot is, it really lets us get a good look at those amazing eyes. The way her arm is posed is actually really useful, because it almost serves as a makeshift background for the title. Good job, Harper's!

Phi

What do I love about Phi's Cruise collection? The fact that it really doesn't remind me of a cruise collection. The use of the drop crotch pants and shorts is an interesting choice, but I think I like it. I really love all of the zippers and leather, which add simple details that really set off a look. The color palette really doesn't scream cruise to me, but I don't think it needs to. Some of the silhouettes are reminiscent of a scuba wetsuit, which is a different approach on doing a cruise collection. My favorite look of the whole collection is the one fourth from the right in the second image-- the construction of the jacket just rocks. All in all, it's a breath of fresh air for the cruise season.

More Resorty Goodness

I love a woman who can keep me guessing, and Miuccia threw a slight curveball with this collection after her rather grim looking AW 09/10 collection. This lovely little collection was kicked off with some wonderful nude and pastel pieces, which were my favorite part. Bows were consistently present throughout, and we even got some print on print action!

YES.

So I get home today from school, wait, so I get home today from the LAST day of school, and I check style.com to see if they updated the 2010 cruise collections. AND THEY DID. This juicy collection is courtesy of Oscar de la Renta. I really am glad some of the designers are retaining a runway show opposed to just snapping photos in a studio. Above are my favorite looks from the collection. I really like the prints used, and the color palette associated with them. The dresses were fantastic, especially the one Karlie closed it all out with!

Get Your Pink On

Dolce & Gabbana, Emilio Pucci, Michael Kors, Christian Dior, House of Holland

This fall, screw the same old black and grey, and wear some hot pink. Whether you're doing it in a sexy Emilio Pucci mini, or a luxurious Michael Kors dyed fur coat, you have to stick it to those people who are afraid to be bold when you strut the sidewalk. Feel like paying homage to Kanye West? Work it out in a Dolce & Gabbana pink number with shoulders that'll Touch the Sky as seen on Chanel Iman above. Want to try something new? Do the pink thing from Henry Holland with color blocking a la paint samples. You could always just keep it classy in a Christian Dior gown with beautiful beaded detailing. Take your pick, but please, just don't be boring.
